Ok – Ok …. Counterbalance IS back. And the new mix is a big kick in the ass. Since starting off the New Year with a bang, Counterbalance ‘Plus’ has been jamming pretty solid putting together new sets and new material. As the name implies, Counterbalance will continue to develop a near-schizophrenic blend of rock. The latest craze is working on our River Dance technique. It’s a little challenging but Jay seems to be a natural!

Anyway, the show’s on a roll - we hope y’all are having a great time rockin’ with us. Besides the various club gigs, we’ve enjoyed a couple of awesome stage shows recently:

BEST CHEST IN THE WEST FINALS at Guerneville February 21:

This brings up one and only one question: What would rock and roll be without SEX? Y’know what I’m saying? Fugetaboudit!! Great music accompanied by even greater scenery. What am I talking about? The band was mere background noise to the titillating Babe-athalon. Jeff Blazy from the FOX mc’d one fine evening in Sonoma county entertainment history. We were just lucky enough to participate. You know, usually all we have is Carlton’s ass to look at…..HOWEVER…having some of the finalists strip-dance on stage with us during the second set proved to somewhat enhance our performance abilities….what with Mark B. breaking several strings (boing), Jay making his guitar go places it hasn’t gone before, and Mark O. literally getting lost in the action (he seemed to disappear at times right before our eyes), Alan was wondering who the hell was actually playing the music!! Hell I don’t know, maybe it was just one long drum solo…….

MONTROSE AT THE MYSTIC THEATER in Petaluma March 23:

Counterbalance experiences a high energy rockin’ reception opening for Ronnie Montrose. What a night. What a show. Both CB and Montrose dished out hearty servings of rock to a sold-out crowd that was hungry for it. If you were THERE you KNOW what I’m talking ‘bout. And if you missed it, you MISSED it….. Well, stay tuned kids, ‘cause we’re looking forward to more of the same.

It was a great evening to try out some of our latest work; 3 new originals were added to the set..… So….to commemorate this season of Spring and new beginnings, CB is developing more new tunes with the hopes of having a new disc out by summer.

Don’t forget to keep watch of our Show Dates page!! There’s always something new…Spring Break in April, FOX event in May, Luau on the Lake in June, etc…PLUS the ever partying club scene.
